Is After Christmas a Good Time to Sell on eBay?
Selling on eBay has become a very competitive business.
At one time, selling your products was not too difficult and could make a nice extra income for you.
Yes, before Christmas is still a great time to sell but after Christmas can be a bit more challenging depending on what you are looking to sell.
Some years ago, many people would give cash as a present for Christmas,
Then the boom of gift card giving started and people did not have the cash after Christmas like they did before since gift cards took away the “cash” presents.
After Christmas selling can be challenging but not out of the question.
Billions of dollars each year is spent on gift cards, even eBay has gotten into the arena for the gift cards.
Even though eBay gift cards are for sale all year, most of the sales are given as Christmas gifts.
This could help you sell after the holiday, again, depending on what you are looking to sell.
Many people don’t hold on to their gift cards but spend them within the first month they get them. Which can be a good deal for the sellers on eBay.
When would another time of the year when most people have extra money in their pockets?
March – May
Why do you think this would be?
Getting their income tax money back.
With many American getting anywhere from a few hundred dollars back to thousands, they are looking to spend it.
With pretty much everything being sold on eBay, you may want to do a little research on what is selling good or in demand.
One way you can see what products are “hot” is do a search on the internet for eBay hot list.
Once you get your results, make sure you click on a link that will take you to eBay.com that way you can be sure to see the original list.
What is the Hot List?
It is a large pdf file compiled of recent eBay data queries like, most searched, most sold and so forth. They rank words and phrases by eBay category.
This information can be very useful when looking to sell.
They also have it broke down so you can see the different holidays. Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day and of course Christmas time.
Another place to do research on eBay is to take a look at the completed listings after the holidays.
Click on the advanced link next to the search box, type in what item you would be selling and click the box next to Completed Listings.
The items in red means they did not sell, items in green are sold for that amount.
Remember, use the hot list and Completed Listings as a starting point, not an ending. Additional research on eBay can help you decide if selling after Christmas would be better for you and your product.
